Day 7 - August 11th, 2009
We drove around the blocks looking for parking and found
a place behind the state capitol. So we were able to look around
a bit and through the building. We came out to the Queens statue.
which is at the back of the palace grounds.
The great seal of Hawaii at the Hawaii State Capitol
There were lovely trees all over like this banyan.
We bought tickets for a tour of the palace and
then we found a place to have lunch nearyby. Then we
walked down to the Federal building that also houses
the Downtown Post Office. I was able to take several
pictures of the King Kamehammeha Statue. The Federal
is across the street from the palace.
The architecure was really beautiful.
The king was coronated at the gazebo.
Everyone on the tour had to wear covers on their feet and
no photography of any kind was allowed. The volunteers
took their jobs serious in preserving the palace.
Not all the rooms were furnished as most items were sold.
Little by little items are being recovered. The bottom
floor is a museum. I wish I had pictures to share.
